The MSc Industrial Biotechnology will appeal to those with a primary industrial background as a further training opportunity and as a means of becoming involved in this important field, as well as being suitable for recent graduates and early-career professionals from a variety of backgrounds.

The course has been designed in direct response to industry needs and is at the forefront of developments in biotechnology and engineering. There are a number of ways you can study law at Strathclyde, one such way being the BA degree in combination with another subject. Please note that studying law within the BA degree will not qualify you for entry to the legal profession. For professional qualifications in Law, students follow the LLB programme.

You'll look at conditions of behaviour – how we learn, remember, co-ordinate our actions and interact with others – and the reasons for differences between individuals, such as personality or intelligence.

Due to the popularity of the course and performance criteria for entry into Honours (Year 4) the numbers admitted to Years 2 and 3 of the course are limited.

Social Policy examines the ways in which societies distribute resources and develop services to meet individual and social needs. Key social policy issues examined include poverty; economic, race, age and gender inequality; social justice health; education; criminal justice and housing.

It utilises a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to improve our understanding of how societies organise their resources to meet individual and social needs and how they measure progress in these areas. 

This programme gives you the opportunity to learn more about the social and economic challenges facing Scottish society and place these in a broader international perspective. It draws on disciplines such as history, sociology, anthropology, economics, law, psychology, social anthropology and politics.

Our MSc Advanced Computer Science with Big Data gives you the skill set needed in a range of industries. You'll gain an understanding of the new challenges posed by the big data revolution, particularly in relation to its modelling, storage and access.

Big data is of growing importance in businesses and society in general. A skills shortage in this area means companies are willing to pay high salaries for the right skill set.

Opportunities for graduates exist in a range of industries such as finance, films and games, pharmaceuticals, health care, consumer products and public services. Our MSc Advanced Computer Science with Big Data gives you the skill set needed.

As a politics student, you'll look at the work of governments and their policies and study the behaviour of those who govern - and who they are governing - both at home and abroad. You'll also gain knowledge of domestic and international institutions and issues relating to conflict and cooperation. We cover diverse and relevant issues, such as international terrorism to the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum.

Politics graduates can go on to work in a number of areas, with many pursuing academic research careers in the UK, Europe and North America.

Social workers have a responsibility to promote the rights of powerless people, protect the vulnerable and disadvantaged and address the causes and effects of offending behaviour.

Validated by the Scottish Social Services Council and closely aligned to the Standards in Social Work Education, the degree will give you a recognised professional award in social work. It will also prepare you for the challenging role of being a social worker.

You'll have the opportunity to work/study abroad, thanks to our well-established links with the University of Greensboro, North Carolina in the United States and an exchange agreement with the University of Malta.
