Facilities

• The School of Government & Public Policy has a number of research centres that relate to the topics covered and the content of the course. For example, the European Policies Research Centre is a leading hub for the study of regional development policy and collection of such data in Europe, a centre that is of increasing importance in the wake of Brexit.
• Specialised policy centres focused on health and energy – such as the Centre for Energy Policy – also add to the applied policy environment at Strathclyde. The Institute for Future Cities' City Observatory, located in Strathclyde’s award-winning Technology & Innovation Centre, uses data to understand and address urban problems. Combining education with other subjects provides opportunities for those who wish to work in professions associated with education, but who don't wish necessarily to become teachers. Please note that this course doesn't allow you to qualify as a teacher, though joint honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education).

Biomedical engineering is a rapidly expanding industry, with the National Health Service, industrial and academic research and development all making advances to meet the increasing demands of healthcare.

Studying with us, you'll gain broad training in modern biomedical engineering and learn about the complexities of human anatomy and physiology. You will also study core mechanical and electrical engineering subjects.

The most successful professionals in today’s media are not only highly skilled in reporting, writing, editing and pitching their material, but they're also excellent communicators online and offline, and problem-solvers. Social Policy examines the ways in which societies distribute resources and develop services to meet individual and social needs. Key social policy issues examined include poverty; economic, race, age and gender inequality; social justice health; education; criminal justice and housing.

It utilises a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to improve our understanding of how societies organise their resources to meet individual and social needs and how they measure progress in these areas. 

This programme gives you the opportunity to learn more about the social and economic challenges facing Scottish society and place these in a broader international perspective. It draws on disciplines such as history, sociology, anthropology, economics, law, psychology, social anthropology and politics.

In the majority of combinations, accounting is fully accredited for entry to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland .You may be offered possible exemptions to other professional bodies eg Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

In-depth understanding of a second subject will complement your accounting studies and prove valuable to employers.

Marine vehicles have developed dramatically in recent years. Lighter, faster, stronger, greener and safer vehicles are being designed and built using advanced materials and technology combined with creative design engineering.

This course creates designers with all the core skills of ship design, construction, operation and maintenance. They also have a particular specialisation in the creative design and engineering of high performance leisure and commercial vehicles, including sailing and power yachts, fast ferries, hydrofoils, hovercraft, fishing boats and the concept designs of the future.

All our courses offer you the chance to take classes in specialist subjects such as high performance marine vehicles, marine engineering or ocean engineering.
