Studying history – the story of humanity through the ages – develops your knowledge of the past and gives you a better understanding of the present. Our classes cover some of the most important and interesting historical periods at home and abroad, including Scotland’s ‘Highland Problem’ in the 16th century, Slavery in World History and Cold War Europe, 1945-1991.

As a politics student, you'll look at the work of governments and their policies and study the behaviour of those who govern - and who they are governing - both at home and abroad. You'll also gain knowledge of domestic and international institutions and issues relating to conflict and cooperation. We cover diverse and relevant issues, such as international terrorism to the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum. Politics graduates can go on to work in a number of areas, with many pursuing academic research careers in the UK, Europe and North America.

Studying History & Politics and International Relations, you'll receive excellent training in areas such as problem-solving, communication, research methods and interpretation.

Our BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are initially broad-based. In Year 1 you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s).

This course is aimed at engineering graduates from the UK and overseas who want to develop careers in the oil, gas, process and chemical industries. The course has a strong project-based approach and is relevant to the recruitment needs of a wide range of employers.

This course is one of the few MSc programmes to offer the module Safety Management Practices. It offers exposure to best industry practice and much required industrial training.

It meets accreditation requirements for the Institute of Chemical Engineers allowing graduates to apply for chartered engineer status.

Facilities
We're one of the largest chemical engineering departments in the country. Our state-of-the-art research laboratories include experimental facilities for light scattering, spectroscopy, adsorption measurements and high pressure viscometry.

Immunology helps us understand how the immune system is tricked into attacking its own tissue, leading to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes or allergy. It's significantly helped modern medicine in areas such as blood transfusion, vaccination, organ transplantation along with the treatment of allergy, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.

It's also made vital contributions to cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology and pharmacology, and is starting to make major inroads into the food industry, agriculture and veterinary science.

This full-time course will cover the practical, theoretical and technological aspects of 5G Communications Systems as they evolve over the coming years. 5G will provide greater capacity, improved reliability, support at higher rates of mobility, and wider geographical coverage, at even higher data speeds and throughput and many new services and facilities.
