There's a number of ways you can study Law at Strathclyde. You can study the BA degree or in combination with another subject. For professional qualifications in Law students follow the LLB programme.

The study of Law is regarded not as purely vocational, but part of a broader education. Please note that studying Law within the BA degree will not qualify you for entry to the legal profession.

This course will help you to develop an understanding of how and why human resource policies and practices differ across the world. You'll examine how international companies address these challenges. 

It allows you to consider these issues critically and encourages you to think more practically about the skills required to manage in an international context. 

The programme will provide you with a good understanding of theoretical debates and policy issues affecting human resource management in the global context. 

You'll develop an awareness of the range of possible national and regional models for the management of human resources within the globalised economy. 

You'll learn about the impact of local cultural and institutional influences on the practices of global organisations. 

By the end of the programme, you'll have a good working knowledge of the skills required to manage in an international context, as well as an understanding of how multinational organisations can best mobilise a culturally diverse workforce.

Throughout the course of your study there will be a number of guest lectures and tailored seminars delivered by leading HR and business managers, focusing on the practical challenges of managing people in multi-national enterprises and international organisations. Immunology helps us understand how the immune system is tricked into attacking its own tissue, leading to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes or allergy. It's significantly helped modern medicine in areas such as blood transfusion, vaccination, organ transplantation along with the treatment of allergy, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.

It's also made vital contributions to cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology and pharmacology, and is starting to make major inroads into the food industry, agriculture and veterinary science. 

Pharmacology is the study of how drugs and other chemicals affect the body in health and disease. It also explores the development of new and improved medicines and the treatment of disease.

This joint Honours degree covers the curriculum of the BSc Honours Mathematics degree, plus the education theory and classroom experience required for recognition by the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

In four years, you’ll gain a joint Honours degree along with a professional teaching qualification and will be qualified to enter the probationary year as a teacher of mathematics in Scottish secondary schools.

Students on the BSc (Honours) in Mathematics course for the first two years can transfer to the Mathematics with Teaching course guaranteed (subject to progress requirements) for the start of 3rd year.

The exciting world of mechatronics and automation engineering has the important task of bringing these machines to life, maintaining them, fixing them when they malfunction and designing and building new models.

Mechatronics and automation is becoming an increasingly important discipline in today’s digital society. Consumers and society have benefited tremendously from new products which have been designed applying mechatronic principles. These intelligent products include:

On our MChem Chemistry degree, you'll study both pure and applied chemistry. Pure chemistry is about unravelling the mysteries of molecular structure and reactivity. Applied chemistry uses chemical knowledge to respond to the challenges created by society.

Advanced classes include photochemistry, cage and cluster modules, environmental chemistry, polymer chemistry and molecular catalysis.

The Chemistry MChem course is for students who want complete coverage of the subject to keep their career options open. It’s possible to switch between the other MChem courses and also the following shorter BSc degrees within the first three years:

The course provides specialised knowledge of the analytical techniques used to detect, identify and quantitatively determine drugs and related substances. Manufacturing engineers and managers do not just create technological solutions though, they also motivate, organise and interact with others to make sure products and services are provided when and where customers’ needs exist.

The demand industry’s need for those skilled in this area continues to increase as the demand for quicker turnaround times, to meet the requirements of increasing global customers and to provide enhanced online shopping and service experiences grows progresses.

Manufacturing Engineering with Management blends a more technical engineering focus (such as mechanics, manufacturing, electronics, maths, programming, engineering calculations of a product's design) with production and management principles, and technology such as operational improvement and quality management.

This is integrated with manufacturing processes, design, CAD, rapid prototyping and digital prototyping technologies, software and practical skills to turn the design and production process into reality which is fundamental to global market success. Considerations include environmental impact, reducing waste and increasing outputs to meet targets.

The Department of Design, Manufacturing & Engineering Management has a range of innovative purpose built design and manufacture laboratories. Our students have access to a range of workshops and facilities including a digital design and manufacture studio. It brings together:

Civil engineering develops and improves facilities and services that society needs – from the supply of clean water and energy to the design and construction of roads, railways and stations.

Tall buildings such as the Shard in London or the new Queensferry Bridge across the Firth of Forth are exciting examples of civil engineering.

Our graduates develop and renew towns and cities and improve links with remote communities.

Solving problems of air, land and water pollution and protecting society against natural disasters are also important aspects of civil engineering.

In recent years, our students have participated in the Constructionarium, attended Civil Engineering 4 Real and have taken part in our mentoring scheme involving graduate engineers with support companies such as BAM Nuttall, Sir Robert McAlpine, Tony Gee, Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors and Mott MacDonald.
