There is a shortage of physics teacher across the UK. Our degree is designed to fill this gap.

In addition to the core physics syllabus, you’ll study pedagogy and get the hands-on classroom experience required for General Teaching Council recognition.

There is a strong emphasis on laboratory work and this will help you develop a sound understanding of experimental physics and instrumentation.

Your training in laboratory work is completed by a research project carried out in an up-to-date research lab, attached to one of the department’s research groups. This allows you to benefit from our lively and diverse research environment.

This course will help you develop the skills for a variety of marketing and psychology careers.

The Department of Marketing at Strathclyde is recognised as one of the leading centres of marketing education and research in the UK.

In psychology, you’ll study human behaviour. Psychological research is motivated by the desire to understand both general behaviour (how we learn, remember, co-ordinate our actions and interact with others) and the reason for the differences between individuals such as personality or intelligence.

Our main focus in psychology is the study of human behaviour. Due to the popularity of the course, performance-related criteria are in place to manage entry into Honours (Year 4); this means the numbers admitted to Years 2 and 3 of the course are limited and dependent on performance.

Education is essential if you're hoping to study initial teacher education courses. We offer you the chance to develop knowledge of the education systems of Scotland and beyond, looking at issues including policy, social justice, equity and inclusion.

Combining education with other subjects provides opportunities for those who wish to work in professions associated with education, but who don't wish necessarily to become teachers. Please note that this course doesn't allow you to qualify as a teacher, though joint honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education).

Biochemistry is the study of how cells work at molecular level. Biochemistry, and the related field of molecular biology are important in understanding the molecular basis of life and its role in the disease process.

Immunology is the study of how the body defends itself against disease. It helps us understand how the immune system is tricked into attacking its own tissue, leading to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes or allergy.

The opportunity to choose specific degree combinations will allow you to go into specialist biomedical science areas such as neuroscience, cardiovascular research, immunopharmacology, industrial immunology, drug research, biochemistry, microbiology and bacteriology.
