Electrical energy is vital in today’s society. It powers manufacturing and transport, provides heat and light and is part of all modern life.
One of the biggest challenges facing society is the need for reliable energy supplies with minimum impact on the environment. This degree responds to that need. It produces engineers with the technical expertise and skills to tackle this challenge and all complex issues surrounding the applications of electrical power.

The search for, and integration of, renewable and carbon-neutral energy sources into the existing power network requires innovative engineering solutions involving fuel cells, solar, wind, wave and tidal technologies. Examples of such innovation include our energy project in The Gambia and opportunities exist for you to be part of the annual expedition there to install solar technologies into rural communities.

This course will provide you with a critical understanding of the relationship between architecture and ecology, looking at both from a theoretical perspective. This will be done by instructional modules taken at Strathclyde in Glasgow during the first three months of study. The practical demonstration of this relationship will be through project work at the urban laboratory Arcosanti in Arizona.

The Cosanti Foundation, established by Dr Paolo Soleri in 1964, is an education-based architecture and urban design not-for-profit organisation located in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. The Foundation established the world-renowned Arcosanti project in 1970 as an urban laboratory focused on researching alternatives to urban sprawl, based on Soleri's work on ecological architecture, and his proposals for the design of future cities.

This is a unique opportunity to study your Masters degree while living and working at Arcosanti, helping to research, design and construct an alternative to urban sprawl, joining thousands of people who, since Arcosanti’s launch in 1970, have already been part of “one of the most important urban experiments in our lifetime” (Newsweek).

This MSci is a five-year Masters degree with entry into either Year 1 with Highers or Year 2 with Advanced Highers or A Levels.Pharmacology is the study of how drugs and other chemicals affect the body in health and disease. This area explores the development of new and improved medicines and the treatment of disease.This degree is for those who want to specialise in a single biomedical sciences option at Masters level. Our approach to the English & Creative writing course is innovative, modern and friendly, giving you a comprehensive understanding of English literature as a core basis for your creative work.
