Supply chain management is widely accepted as a critical business competency. It encompasses procurement of materials, processing and distribution of products and services to customers. In many companies, 80% or more of their turnover is spent outside the organisation and this course helps you become effective in managing this.

The course is aimed particularly at who will work within supply chain management and is suitable for those with a background in support functions such as sales, maintenance, finance and marketing. It has been designed to cover the latest industrial environmental issues, for example:

Our approach to the English & Creative writing course is innovative, modern and friendly, giving you a comprehensive understanding of English literature as a core basis for your creative work.

With us, you can study everything from poetry, the novel and drama (stage, screen, and radio) as you would expect on an English and Creative Writing degree, but in addition, at Strathclyde, we offer the opportunity to use creative writing skills as part of your approach to literary criticism.

Education is essential if you wish to study initial teacher education courses. We offer you the chance to develop knowledge of the education systems of Scotland and beyond, looking at issues including policy, social justice, equity and inclusion.

Combining education with other subjects provides opportunities for those who wish to work in professions associated with education, but who don't wish necessarily to become teachers. Please note that this course doesn't allow you to qualify as a teacher, though joint honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the PGDE).

Naval architects and marine engineers deal with the world’s largest moving structures and most powerful vehicles – from huge ships to sailing yachts, from fast ferries to offshore wind turbines and oil platforms.

Marine engineering is the engineering speciality of design, construction, installation and operation of machinery and propulsion systems for ships and marine structures.

This degree aims to develop engineers capable of dealing with engineering challenges on a wide range of marine vehicles, with additional skills and understanding in the impact and importance of marine engineering on their successful design, construction, repair, and maintenance.

In addition to core Naval Architecture subjects, you'll study a range of specialised marine engineering subjects, such as control theory and practice, electrical systems, design of marine engines (diesel, diesel-electric and gas turbine), propeller and shafting systems, system design and simulation, green technology and fuel cell technology.

Modern manufacturing engineers not only need to be experts in the latest classic manufacturing technologies – they need to know how to exploit the power of digital manufacturing to stay competitive in an increasingly global digital market. This course helps you to get a deeper insight into the necessary cyber-physical technologies and new developing business models.

Industry 4.0 concepts are revolutionising the world and modern industry is adopting rapidly and at a vast scale, creating new business models and digital technologies. Products are becoming increasingly customisable and interactive.

The power of digital manufacturing also allows creating agile and autonomous production processes that can deliver at scale through smart global digital communication technologies. Industry business models are also shifting significantly; extensive mass customisation is augmented by direct prosumer engagement and services become instantaneous and ubiquitous.

Digital manufacturing utilises Industry 4.0 technologies such as Cyber Physical Systems, Industrial Internet of Things, Additive Manufacturing and Autonomous Mechatronic Systems. Digital Manufacturing also feeds into new business models such as Through-Life Engineering and Cloud Manufacturing – all extremely hot topics with vast industrial as well as academic potential.

Studying accounting at Strathclyde, you'll learn about the preparation, presentation and interpretation of financial information that enables investors, lenders, management, employees, government and others to make effective decisions.

You'll also learn how to read and interpret accounting information in the annual reports of businesses and the financial information within the public sector and become familiar with the principles and practice of presenting information to those who manage all types of organisations.
