Economics aims to understand the activities of the different agents in the economy – consumers, producers and the government – and how they all fit together.

Our degree will give you the ability to explain complex data in simple terms to different audiences. You’ll also develop excellent mathematical, statistical and problem-solving skills.

We also offer some of the best teaching in Human Resource Management (HRM) in both Scotland and the UK.

Our MSci Immunology is a five-year Integrated Masters degree with entry into either Year 1 with Highers or Year 2 with Advanced Highers or A Levels. 

Immunology is the study of how the body defends itself against disease. It helps us understand how the immune system is tricked into attacking its own tissue, leading to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes or allergy.

The degree is for suitable for those who want to specialise in a single biomedical science. It’s particularly relevant if you want to pursue a research career.

In Years 1 to 4, you’ll follow the same curriculum as one of the joint Honours biomedical sciences degree. In Year 5, you’ll focus on developing generic and subject-based research skills and knowledge. A significant part of this course is project-based.

Our BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are broad-based to start with. In Year 1, you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s). Students have the option to study abroad.

On our MChem Chemistry degree, you'll study both pure and applied chemistry. Pure chemistry is about unravelling the mysteries of molecular structure and reactivity. Applied chemistry uses chemical knowledge to respond to the challenges created by society.

Advanced classes include photochemistry, cage and cluster modules, environmental chemistry, polymer chemistry and molecular catalysis.

The Chemistry MChem course is for students who want complete coverage of the subject to keep their career options open. It’s possible to switch between the other MChem courses and also the following shorter BSc degrees within the first three years:

MSc Environmental Engineering is closely aligned with industry’s demands, this course meets the needs of:

A distinctive feature of this course is its topical nature. Glasgow has been undergoing extensive urban regeneration, including building on land that's been contaminated in the past. You’ll have challenging 'real world' issues to study close to the University. From this experience, you'll become able to translate the principles of environmental engineering that you have learned into national and international context.

Choosing Psychology as your second subject, you would be undertaking a 5-star course as rated by QS. Our main focus in psychology is the study of human behaviour. Studying with us, you'll look at conditions of behaviour – how we learn, remember, co-ordinate our actions and interact with others – and the reasons for differences between individuals, such as personality or intelligence. Due to the popularity of the course, performance-related criteria are in place to manage entry into Honours (Year 4); this means the numbers admitted to Years 2 and 3 of the course are limited and dependent on performance.

Pursuing this joint degree will give you a critical understanding of the media industry. You'll acquire technical and professional skills in journalism, communication, information design and management, and you'll use them in the dynamic media market of Glasgow and beyond. Mechanical engineers are recognised for their knowledge and skills in conceiving, designing, implementing and operating devices, machines, engines and energy systems.

You'll learn how to design aircraft engines, control systems, landing gear and about the many complex parts which sustain flight.

Many of the aero-related topics, such as aerodynamics and lightweight structures, are of special interest and value to a wide variety of engineering activities outside the field of aeronautics.

Biomedical engineering is a rapidly expanding industry, with the National Health Service, industrial and academic research and development all making advances to meet the increasing demands of healthcare.
