The Business Department at De Anza College is one of the nation's leading two-year business programs, with courses, degrees and certificates that provide you with the competitive edge to excel in your career, transfer to a four-year university, or manage your own business.

We offer a wide range of business courses in management, marketing, human resource management, international business, business law, entrepreneurship and more. Our instructors are enthusiastic about sharing their in-depth knowledge and industry experience, while teaching practical skills in these fields.

Students pursuing an A.A. degree in Marketing Management prepare for a wide variety of marketing-related careers such as marketing events coordinator, retail sales manager, marketing communications associate, inside sales representative, sales specialist/coordinator, and sales support specialist. students learn the fundamentals of general business administration with an emphasis on marketing, advertising, selling, international business and management.

In this career-oriented program, students are trained in the interrelated fields of environmental resource management (sustainable multiple-use management of our fundamental environmental resources ? air, water, land, food and extracted materials) and pollution prevention. The training received is multidisciplinary, covering the areas of law/regulation, public health, economics and science and technology, and includes coursework covering a variety of practical management tools that employers look for. Upon completion, students are prepared for employment as entry-level environmental management/pollution prevention specialists in a wide range of positions and settings, including working for business/industry, government, and nonprofit organizations

Our Mission
The mission of DeAnza’s Environmental Studies Department is two-fold:

• Educate a broad range of students on both environmental science and environmental issues via our 10 General Education (GE) course offerings.
• Train the next generation of environmental leaders and professionals via our certificate and degree offerings in three key areas.
• With over 3500 students taking the nearly 200 class sections we offer each year, we are the largest environmental studies/science department in the California Community College system.

Mission
The mission of the Child Development and Education Department is to prepare a diverse student population, including Child Development majors and students from other majors and departments, for transfer within the Behavioral and Social Sciences. The department also provides comprehensive educational opportunities to help students meet professional growth and workforce requirements.

The A.A. degree in Law Enforcement provides the foundational education required for an individual's career pathway into the criminal justice field with an emphasis on the administration of justice. The courses range from the concepts of criminal law, evidence, investigation and reporting to community relations and criminology.

The program has a proud history: It has been offered at the college since De Anza was established in 1967. Today, our classes cover the latest advancements in methodology and technology.

Our instructors have extensive professional experience as judges, police officers, correction and probation officers as well as attorneys. Our graduates are working for public and private agencies throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

This A.A. degree offers a foundation in lower division courses enabling students to pursue a B.A. or B.F.A. in sculpture or design at a four-year institution. The degree prepares students to transition successfully into a university environment. Their acquired knowledge may be transferred into areas such as teaching, studio art production, product design, museum work, architectural design and model making

De Anza's Art Department emphasizes the teaching of strong technical skills and nurtures each individual's originality in order to prepare students for global inclusiveness through creative engagement.

Our program is designed to train future vocational and avocational artists in the ability to communicate creative expression through craftmanship, concept and design lexicon. Our instructors are practicing professionals whose work reflects a dedication to the development of creative and conceptual styles, as well as abilities.

The A.A. degree in Management prepares students for a career managing and leading employees in positions such as (but not limited to) service manager, retail sales manager, customer service supervisor, office manager, human resources coordinator, employee benefits associate, construction project manager, hotel/hospitality supervisor or management trainee. students learn the fundamentals of general business administration, with an emphasis on management, leadership, and human resource management.

The biology department is known for its excellence in preparing students for transfer to four-year colleges and professional health care certification programs. The biology program also equips students to succeed in other programs at De Anza, such as Environmental Studies, Nursing and Health Technology.

The Health Technologies Department developed the Medical Assisting A.S. degree to train students in the fundamental clinical skills of reading vital signs, assisting with minor surgery, performing routine lab procedures, administering medication, and the administrative skills of medical coding and medical records management. Students also participate in administrative skills externships in local clinical sites as part of the program.
