CERE's Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science gives students a strong foundation in the natural sciences and mathematics, as well as provides them with a broad background in environmental issues. Courses emphasize the integration of science, policy, and theory as well as connections to the local community and private sector.

A holistic, liberal arts approach to the study of theater. This means you’ll get a well-rounded education in the many aspects of theater, from studying the literature of the plays themselves, to developing skills needed both backstage in production and on stage as an actor. Theater arts students can develop their performance or behind-the-scenes skills in a new Black Box Theater that opened in the 2015-2016 academic year.

With rapid advances in technology, and as generations live longer, more active lives, the demand for biomedical devices, procedures and other solutions continues to grow as well. Biomedical engineers with advanced degrees have even more opportunities for expanded responsibilities.

This 32-credit MS-BME program was designed to be flexible to serve both full-time students and working professionals seeking to become innovators in the biomedical engineering field. Students will have significant opportunities for research in state-of-the-art labs, working alongside accomplished faculty.

Graduates of the program will have the experience to perform research and engineering design for academia, government and industries related to human health. Additionally, students with the desire to continue on to a PhD program or professional medical education will have the appropriate basis upon which to build.

Upon successful completion of this program students will:

• Gain the ability to demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in biomedical engineering 
• Have particular expertise in a field of biomedical engineering through coursework or research
• Learn to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice 
• Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary issues in biomedical engineering with an emphasis on ethical questions 
• Students choosing the thesis option will gain research experience resulting in publishable work

Liberal Arts students may design a Liberal Arts major if they prefer not to choose a formal major course of study offered in a traditional discipline. A self-designed major allows for the election of a concentration in either the humanities or social sciences, or it may be built around a theme that brings together courses in both the humanities and social sciences.

Majoring in computer science will train you to create software applications in fields ranging from gaming to Web and mobile apps and give you a strong understanding of computational theory and best practices so that you can adapt throughout your career to ever-evolving computing capabilities.

Rhetoric explores professional and public leadership grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students learn the history and practice of producing and interpreting oral and written arguments in the professional and public spheres. Rhetoric majors pursue careers in law, public policy advocacy, nonprofit administration, business, and countless other fields in a globalizing marketplace.

Our program emphasizes comprehensive methodological training with three distinct content areas of concentration:

• Community and Social Justice
• Health and Gerontology
• Criminal Justice and Society

Much of this professional orientation in sociology is focused on working with community based organizations and public agencies aimed at social improvements in areas such as health, poverty, and community empowerment.

Additionally, the Department offers a selection of courses for non-science majors carefully designed to meet University Core science requirements, in a range of topics from the traditional to the fun-filled and even the exotic.

Our faculty are dedicated teacher-scholars who enjoy helping students experience the thrill of learning about nature first-hand. The Department pursues a vigorous research program in experimental condensed matter, experimental atomic physics and experimental nuclear physics, all areas open to undergraduate involvement.

The Master of Science in Environmental Science and Management (ESM) features a core of required classes in science, policy, and management that creates a strong foundation on which to build a customized degree program. Students have the freedom to choose a concentration and a variety of electives that will help them attain their goals.
