The Master of Science in Biotechnology is designed to provide advanced graduate training in the natural sciences, while enabling students to consider other career options for their scientific knowledge through coursework in business, ethics and leadership. The study of History enriches all who undertake it.  It sits at the center of the liberal arts, for it is concerned with all areas of human endeavor—politics, economics, social arrangements, psychology, thought, and religion.

Our History Majors:

Our program is built on the premise that students learn science best by enjoying the successes and failures of research, so we encourage students to begin research as soon as possible and, indeed, students should approach faculty members to investigate beginning research as early as their freshman year. Students interested in beginning research should browse faculty research interests on the web and make an appointment with individual faculty members to discuss their research. Research opportunities are available for academic credit or on a volunteer basis, and occur throughout the year. Occasionally, funding may be available through an individual faculty member’s grant.

In today's business environment, management requires ethical decision-making and an ability to foster cooperative relationships, within your office walls and around the globe. Strong, ethical managers are sought by organizations everywhere. The Palumbo-Donahue School of Busienss provides management majors with core courses and electives designed to make you marketable in a variety of careers.

Combining this knowledge with that of another functional area of business, such as marketing or information systems, will better prepare you for successful careers in your desired fields.

Management faculty introduce you to best practices of leadership, business-government relations, sustainability, critical decision-making, organizational behavior and strategic project management and more while guiding you in how to apply such skills in today's economy. You are encouraged to join the student business association, the Society for the Advancement of Management (S.A.M.) and to take advantage of internship opportunities to help sharpen both personal and professional talents necessary for a successful career in management.

The M.A. degree program includes a total of ten courses (30 credits), one required course plus nine courses selected from the general Healthcare Ethics courses. The required course is a general graduate-level introduction to ethics. The nine HCE courses will be chosen by the student with advisement according to the student's interest.

Rhetoric explores professional and public leadership grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students learn the history and practice of producing and interpreting oral and written arguments in the professional and public spheres. Rhetoric majors pursue careers in law, public policy advocacy, nonprofit administration, business, and countless other fields in a globalizing marketplace.
