The Data Science B.S. program at Duquesne University will prepare you to provide practical solutions to problems involving small data sets to massive amounts of data. Grounded in the department's established commitment to the philosophical student of communication, the Master of Arts emphasis in Rhetoric & Philosophy of Communication (36 credits) provides students with a traditional liberal arts education for leadership in academia, law, and the marketplace. This program offers fundamental courses for a doctoral degree or enhancement of a liberal arts foundation in communication.

Duquesne University's new Master of Arts in English, Literature and Writing track, provides you with the best of both worlds: the literature classes of a traditional M.A. in English combined with engagement with a variety of forms of writing across different media and disciplines. Learn how your critical thinking and writing abilities can translate to a variety of contexts-from magazine writing to digital media to grant writing and beyond. With our flexible, interdisciplinary program, you can develop your writing skills in directions that interest and fulfill you!

Business today is global, subjected to the forces of culture, economy, geography and politics. What happens in other countries affects American-based corporations, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies. As the world becomes smaller, a degree in international business will prepare you to meet the professional challenges of doing business at home and abroad.

An international business degree from our program prepares you for managerial careers in the global marketplace. Anticipating the demands of the discipline, our international business program teaches you not simply how to conduct business, but also how to conduct business with an understanding of world markets and political and cultural sensitivity.

While focusing on international business concepts in the classroom, you are exposed to real-world affairs through activities with international businesses and organizations located within the Pittsburgh area. In addition, you have the opportunity to fulfill your international business study-abroad requirement at Duquesne's campus in Rome, its international study center at the National University of Ireland, and through partnerships with numerous university partners around the world.

The M.F.A. in Media Arts and Technology is a multidisciplinary program of study that blends media arts, design, creative expression and technology to enhance communication and user experiences across all industries and disciplines. It provides opportunity for aspiring storytellers, designers, filmmakers, photographers, artists and technologists to exercise creativity through technology. The M.F.A. is 42 credit hours. Students choose one of the program tracks: 1) Creative and Strategic Media, 2) Interactive Design, 3) Photography and Film.

Developing student creative competence and design thinking skills is central to our teaching philosophy. In each program track, project-oriented classes focus on creative and designed projects such as literary works, films and documentaries, photography exhibits, interactive apps and websites, digital user experiences (UX), and public relations and advertising campaigns. 

This program offers students a diverse curriculum in commonly and less commonly taught language Spanish and it is designed to lead to communicative language competency, exposure to a various literatures and cultures, a global education. In this major students are prepared for a productive role in a rapidly changing world, an educational setting where they will learn to connect knowledge and skills to their social responsibilities, build moral character through encounters with different cultures, traditions, values,...

Communication Studies draws from the richness of the communication discipline to allow students to design programs of study that meet their unique interests and professional goals. Students can develop competencies in a number of areas, including intercultural and interpersonal communication, organizational communication, argumentation, event planning, persuasion, professional communication, visual communication, rhetoric and popular culture, and community relations. Communication Studies majors pursue careers in family businesses and for-profit and non-profit organizations or graduate school in communication, law, public policy, healthy policy and administration, or business.

M.S. programs require a minimum of 30 post baccalaureate semester hours; 24 credits of course work, including 2 credits of seminar, and 6 credits of thesis research. The M.S. in Pharmacy Administration, thesis option requires 27 credits of course work, including 2 credits of seminar and 9 credits of thesis research; non-thesis option 33 credits of course work, including 2 credits of seminar. In conjunction with the Graduate School of Business Administration, the department offers an M.B.A./M.S. in Industrial Pharmacy, an 85 credit, non thesis program, requiring concurrent graduate-level enrollment in both the Graduate School of Business Administration and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Fifty-seven credits in core business administration course work and 28 credits of course work in the pharmaceutical sciences are required.

Information Systems and Technology (IST) combines the study of technology and business management. It isn't just programming; it's project management, design, administration and more. Critical to the success of modern business, IST is a dynamic, diverse career involving interaction with business managers, clients, end users and technicians.

Rhetoric explores professional and public leadership grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students learn the history and practice of producing and interpreting oral and written arguments in the professional and public spheres. Rhetoric majors pursue careers in law, public policy advocacy, nonprofit administration, business, and countless other fields in a globalizing marketplace.
