In recent decades, the forces of globalization have increased awareness of the interdependent and interrelated nature of modern society. The International Relations major educates students in the historical, political, and cultural forces that shape the interactions between states, international organizations, multi-national corporations, and other international actors.

The International Relations program at Duquesne is truly distinct because it is grounded in the commitment to promoting peace and justice in global society that is essential to the mission of Duquesne and its founders, the Spiritans. Our IR majors come from all continents and are exposed to a challenging and diverse academic curriculum, with the opportunity to choose from 12 areas of concentration and learn from professors and speakers of international reputation.

Rhetoric explores professional and public leadership grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students learn the history and practice of producing and interpreting oral and written arguments in the professional and public spheres. Rhetoric majors pursue careers in law, public policy advocacy, nonprofit administration, business, and countless other fields in a globalizing marketplace.

Duquesne University's new Master of Arts in English, Literature and Writing track, provides you with the best of both worlds: the literature classes of a traditional M.A. in English combined with engagement with a variety of forms of writing across different media and disciplines. Learn how your critical thinking and writing abilities can translate to a variety of contexts-from magazine writing to digital media to grant writing and beyond. With our flexible, interdisciplinary program, you can develop your writing skills in directions that interest and fulfill you!

Grounded in the department's established commitment to the philosophical student of communication, the Master of Arts emphasis in Rhetoric & Philosophy of Communication (36 credits) provides students with a traditional liberal arts education for leadership in academia, law, and the marketplace. This program offers fundamental courses for a doctoral degree or enhancement of a liberal arts foundation in communication.

The Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy is your gateway to a career as a board-certified music therapist. At Duquesne University, we provide innovative and comprehensive training that connects your passion for music with your desire to improve the health and wellbeing of patients in a variety of clinical settings.

This program offers students a diverse curriculum in commonly and less commonly taught language Spanish and it is designed to lead to communicative language competency, exposure to a various literatures and cultures, a global education. In this major students are prepared for a productive role in a rapidly changing world, an educational setting where they will learn to connect knowledge and skills to their social responsibilities, build moral character through encounters with different cultures, traditions, values,...

This is an exciting major that combines the study of three languages. Students choosing this major should have extensive background in at least one of the languages selected for the degree.
