The Exercise Science AA pathway degree is for students who want to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science. This degree can lead to careers in personal fitness, coaching and athletic training, or to advanced professional degrees in sports nutrition, physical therapy and other related professions.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first-time-in-college students. CGS 1000 may be able to be tested out for no credit. The Counseling and Human Services AS degree program prepares you to work in the life-changing fields of counseling, social work, human services, and rehabilitation. As a counseling and human services practitioner, you may provide individual and group counseling, lead workshops, offer training in daily living skills, assist with vocational planning, organize group activities, deliver case management services, and complete records and reports, often under the supervision of an advanced mental health professional. You may also act as a mediator between clients and service agencies, refer clients to appropriate community facilities and advocate for clients before local service providers and government agencies.

The mass communications AA pathway degree is perfect for students seeking a Bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, advertising, public relations, education or telecommunications. Careers may include writing for various media, broadcasting, corporate communications, serving as governmental agency spokesperson, copywriting and other roles in advertising and public relations, video and audiovisual production and sales, or political lobbying.

The HCC Philosophy Associate in Arts degree pathway is a for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in philosophy at a college or university. The associate degree provides students with the foundational knowledge required to enhance their understanding of philosophy as a critical inquiry of nature and human society, to analyze and evaluate major paradigms in philosophy from historical and contemporary perspectives, to sharpen critical thinking and argumentative skills, and to prepare students to transfer to a university.

This degree offers students a fundamental understanding of the main fields of philosophy, including logic, ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, and philosophy of religion while exposing students to a broad spectrum of philosophical theories. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.

The architecture AA pathway degree is ideal for students who wish to pursue Bachelor's degrees in architectural design, interior design and landscape architecture.

If you have an interest in technology, an eye for detail and a good amount of artistic talent, this may be the path for you. HCC offers the training you need to lay the foundation for a successful career. The coursework for this program prepares you for employment as a construction planner, architectural assistant or architectural engineer, as well as to sit for the contractor's exam.

The Architecture specific courses are only offered on the Dale Mabry campus.

This pathway is for students who want to pursue a four-year college/university degree in such fields as history, humanities, education, pre-law, political science, museum studies, journalism, library science, archeology/classics or international studies programs. This pathway is broadly designed to allow students to cater the major to their own interests, however, students are encouraged to meet with a full-time history faculty member to discuss their program interests in their first semester at HCC.

The Psychology AA pathway is for students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology at a college or university. This degree provides the lower division psychology major courses required at many universities while exposing students to the core principles and practices of the psychology field.

This degree enables students to develop a strong foundation in research methods, statistics and biological aspects of behavior, and will offer a variety of elective courses to help students develop their knowledge of human behavior, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills. Accounting technology prepares you for employment as an accountant or accounting paraprofessional in occupations requiring analysis, evaluation, theory, and design. The coursework focuses on basic accounting functions as well as skills common to several fields of business, including finance, business law, and general business topics.
