The Psychology AA pathway is for students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology at a college or university. This degree provides the lower division psychology major courses required at many universities while exposing students to the core principles and practices of the psychology field.

This degree enables students to develop a strong foundation in research methods, statistics and biological aspects of behavior, and will offer a variety of elective courses to help students develop their knowledge of human behavior, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first-time-in-college students. CGS 2100 may be able to be tested out for no credit. A surgical technologist assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team. Surgical technologists, who may also be called surgical or operating room technicians or scrub techs, prepare the operating room before the surgery takes place. They also prepare patients for their surgery, arrange medical equipment, and assist doctors during surgical procedures.

The surgical technologist position is sometimes confused with the surgical assistant role. A surgical assistant is another member of the operating room team. While a surgical technologist's tasks are usually limited to preparing operating rooms and equipment, and handing instruments to surgeons, the surgical assistant provides hands-on assistance to a surgeon during an operation.

A surgical assistant might help control a patient's bleeding, apply sutures and use suctioning equipment. Some surgical technologists become surgical assistants after receiving supplemental on-the-job training. To become a surgical assistant, you can also complete a formal training program.

As part of a day's regular duties and tasks, surgical technicians may perform some or all the following:

• Prepare the operating room for upcoming surgeries
• Sterilize equipment and stock up any necessary supplies
• Prepare patients for their procedures
• Sterilize equipment and hands surgeons’ instruments upon their request.
• Order and take inventory of supplies, and maintain files and records of procedures

Sonography is a medical specialty that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the human body. This program focuses on abdomen-extended, obstetrics and gynecology.  Physicians analyze these images to aid in diagnosis.

The diagnostic medical sonography AS degree prepares you to take the national registry examination to become a certified sonographer who provides imaging services under the supervision of a physician.

Graduates of this AS degree program are granted admission into the health sciences Bachelor's degree program at the University of North Florida.

Cybersecurity Operations prepares students for a career as a member of a Security Operations Center (SOC). Students will learn how to become the first line of defense by monitoring, detecting, and analyzing security breaches. They will also learn to  work with other team members to respond and mitigate security type events.

This program prepares students for jobs in the field of computer programmer aide, junior programmer, senior programmer, data manager, programmer analyst, and mid-range computer specialist.

Nursing is a challenging, rewarding career. A nationwide nursing shortage means great career opportunities are available. Accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), our nursing AS degree program takes four semesters, and graduates are eligible to take the National licensing exam NCLEX. The architecture AA pathway degree is ideal for students who wish to pursue Bachelor's degrees in architectural design, interior design and landscape architecture.

If you have an interest in technology, an eye for detail and a good amount of artistic talent, this may be the path for you. HCC offers the training you need to lay the foundation for a successful career. The coursework for this program prepares you for employment as a construction planner, architectural assistant or architectural engineer, as well as to sit for the contractor's exam.

The Architecture specific courses are only offered on the Dale Mabry campus.

If you plan to earn a Bachelor's degree in education with the goal of becoming a teacher, the education teacher preparation AA pathway degree is designed for you. You must have a standard high school diploma or a GED to qualify for this program.

The electronics engineering technology AS degree program prepares you for an entry-level position as an electronics engineering technician who assists engineers in planning, research, development and design.

The coursework focuses on the skills needed for troubleshooting electronic equipment, performing operations, calculations, testing and reporting.

The respiratory care AS degree prepares you to treat patients who have difficulty breathing due to pulmonary or cardiac disease. Learn to work with premature infants, children, trauma victims and patients requiring life support. Respiratory therapists work in physician offices, home care setting, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, sleep study departments and hospitals. The need for respiratory therapists continues to increase due to a growing elderly population; environmental problems; and technological advances in the treatment of lung disease, heart attack, cancer, accident victims and premature babies.

Graduates may take the national certification and registry exams to become licensed practitioners in the US.

The network security AS degree prepares you to assist business and industry in defending against cyber security attacks.
