Overview
The clinical research professional AS degree prepares you to become an integral member of a clinical trials team. With the many advances in healthcare delivery, there's a growing need for trained healthcare professionals, especially in clinical research.
This new HCC program builds fundamental skills in adherence to IRB guidelines; safety for clinical research participants; coordination of clinical treatment and study visits; screening, recruitment, and enrollment of study participants; and clinical trial compliance with Federal and State regulatory laws. Clinical research professional training qualifies you to work in biological, pharmaceutical, or social and behavioral clinical research settings.
Coursework includes an in-depth study of drug development, federal regulations, good clinical practices, and the clinical research process. Supervised fieldwork provides skills application in protocol design, participant recruitment, regulatory compliance, accountability for drugs and devices, and auditing documentation in clinical research studies.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

Associate of Science in Nursing AS - LPN Transition Option
Individuals who are LPNs are eligible to enroll in an accelerated program leading to an AS degree in Nursing and subsequently be in a position to take the licensing examination. The program is designed to assist these professionals’ pursuit of an Associate degree in Nursing (ADN). This program is offered once a year starting in the summer term on the Dale Mabry campus. Nursing graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and, upon successful completion, receive the RN license.

Associate of Science in Architectural Design and Construction Technology
The architectural design and construction technology AS degree lays a strong foundation for a career as a construction planner, architectural assistant or architectural engineer. The coursework also prepares you to pass the contractor's exam.

This program will prepare students for a position as a construction planner or as an assistant to an architect or an architectural engineer in the planning and designing of structures, using construction materials and working with contracts and specifications. If students pass the contractor’s exam, they may become self-employed as contractors. The course work in this program focuses on using the latest technology to solve problems faced by the architect, the engineer and building contractor as they apply to the planning and construction of buildings.

The pharmacy AA pathway degree is for students who want to pursue Bachelor's degrees in pharmacy. Pharmacists dispense medications prescribed by physicians as well as educate physicians and the public about proper drug usage. This pathway provides the courses and guiding principles to increase your chances for admission to pharmacy school.

The Political Science AA pathway is for students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree at a college or university in such fields as history, pre-law, political science, or international studies programs. Associate of Science in Surgical Technology
A surgical technologist assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team. Surgical technologists, who may also be called surgical or operating room technicians or scrub techs, prepare the operating room before the surgery takes place. They also prepare patients for their surgery, arrange medical equipment, and assist doctors during surgical procedures.
The surgical technologist position is sometimes confused with the surgical assistant role. A surgical assistant is another member of the operating room team. While a surgical technologist's tasks are usually limited to preparing operating rooms and equipment, and handing instruments to surgeons, the surgical assistant provides hands-on assistance to a surgeon during an operation.
A surgical assistant might help control a patient's bleeding, apply sutures and use suctioning equipment. Some surgical technologists become surgical assistants after receiving supplemental on-the-job training. To become a surgical assistant, you can also complete a formal training program.
