Overview
The Culinary and Dietetic Management AS degree at Hillsborough Community College offers student the education, training, and experience to competently perform the responsibilities of a dietary manager and has proven this by passing the nationally recognized CDM Credentialing Exam and fulfilling the requirements needed to maintain certified status. This program has both classroom and field experience components. The field experience component consists of 2 practicums of 75 hours each, totaling 150 hours of field experience. Each field experience has a qualified preceptor on site. Graduates are eligible to apply for the CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) Credentialing Exam and ANFP Professional membership.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

The Political Science AA pathway is for students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree at a college or university in such fields as history, pre-law, political science, or international studies programs. The program is broadly designed to allow students to cater the major to their own interests; however, it is recommended that students meet with a full-time political science faculty member to discuss their program interests in their first semester at HCC.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. Associate of Arts in Engineering Pathway
The engineering AA pathway is for students who wish to pursue Bachelor's degrees in electrical, mechanical, civil, computer science, aerospace, nuclear, agricultural, industrial, and environmental engineering. Options in surveying and mapping, and materials design and testing are also available.
Careers include positions in the areas of design, testing, research, architecture, electronics, robotics, manufacturing, sales, construction management, and technical writing. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.

Associate of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology
The nuclear medicine technology AS degree prepares you for a medical imaging specialty that uses radioactive materials to aid in the diagnosis, staging and treatment of illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and dysfunctional thyroid disease. Learn the function and structure of virtually every major organ system within the body.
Offered on the Dale Mabry Campus with clinical experience at several locations in the greater Tampa Bay area, this program is fully accredited and requires a full-time two year commitment. Classes and clinical internships are offered only during the daytime. Graduates are eligible for both nuclear medicine certification exams: the NMTCB and the ARRT-Nuclear Medicine.

An individual who has earned the Certified Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is eligible to receive 23 hours of college credit toward respiratory care AS degree.

Associate of Science in Cardiac Catheterization
Cardiac Catheterization Technologists work alongside physicians to diagnose and treat diseases of the heart and blood vessels using X-ray imaging. These technologists are imaging specialists who also train to act as surgical assistants and circulators during cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures.
Their duties include assessment and care of the patient during the invasive procedure, surgically scrubbing to assist physician, administration of medication under the physician’s supervision, controlling procedural instruments and imaging technologies, and documenting/recording the procedural activities. These specialists are trained in invasive diagnostic cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures, cardiac and vascular invasive interventions, emergency cardiac care, structural heart repair, and invasive cardiac electrophysiology.

Associate of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Sonography is a medical specialty that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the human body. This program focuses on abdomen-extended, obstetrics and gynecology. Physicians analyze these images to aid in diagnosis.
The diagnostic medical sonography AS degree prepares you to take the national registry examination to become a certified sonographer who provides imaging services under the supervision of a physician.
Graduates of this AS degree program are granted admission into the health sciences Bachelor's degree program at the University of North Florida.
