If you are a licensed or licensure-eligible paramedic, or have been accepted into the paramedic program, the emergency medical services AS degree program offers you an opportunity to specialize in education, management or technology.

Course work combines classroom lecture, practical skills laboratory and actual patient clinical experiences. The lecture portion (seven credit hours) covers the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician as well as skills required by the state. The practical skills laboratory portion (three credit hours) includes application practice and performance testing in simulated patient care situations. The clinical portion (two credit hour) provides actual patient care during transport to a hospital and in the hospital setting.

The dental hygiene AS degree provides the skills and knowledge to become a licensed dental hygienist. Vital members of the dental team, dental hygienists provide non-surgical periodontal therapy that includes scaling and root planing, adult and child prophylaxis, placement of dental sealants, exposing and processing radiographs, and individualized patient education.

The dental hygiene program includes five consecutive semesters of coursework and requires 35-40 hours per week. Graduates must pass national and state dental hygiene board exams to become registered dental hygienists. Students may also complete certifications in expanded duties that are permitted by Florida Statute Title XXXII for dental auxiliaries.

Nursing is a challenging, rewarding career. A nationwide nursing shortage means great career opportunities are available. Accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), our nursing AS degree program takes four semesters, and graduates are eligible to take the National licensing exam NCLEX. The digital media multimedia technology developer AS degree teaches you how to design and produce digital projects with multimedia hardware and software. Prepare for jobs such as desktop publisher, production designer, electronic publisher, illustrator, multimedia specialist, multimedia presentation developer, interface designer, computer graphic designer, and project manager.

The Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship AS degree provides opportunities to engage in ideation, business and financial modeling, effectuation, rapid prototyping and design thinking. Careers include business management, intrapreneurship and self-employment.

Students will acquire a comprehensive set of 21st Century workforce skills that prepare them for working in either their own start?ups or large established companies across a variety of industries. Students who complete this degree are eligible for applying for HCC’s Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Seed Fund.

This degree provides students with the opportunity to learn entrepreneurial skills including ideation, business and financial modeling, effectuation, rapid prototyping, and design thinking. The engineering AA pathway is for students who wish to pursue Bachelor's degrees in electrical, mechanical, civil, computer science, aerospace, nuclear, agricultural, industrial, and environmental engineering. Options in surveying and mapping, and materials design and testing are also available.

Careers include positions in the areas of design, testing, research, architecture, electronics, robotics, manufacturing, sales, construction management, and technical writing. The HCC Sociology Associate in Arts degree pathway is for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in sociology or a related degree at a university. Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior in society. Sociology associate students will examine a wide range of human interactions, including marriage and family, crime and deviance, culture and social change, group processes and interactions having to do with class, race and gender; diversity and globalization, social stratification and mobility and social movements.

Program courses will help develop the student’s ability to examine the broader connections between personal life, public issues and social structure. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first-time-in-college students. CGS 2100 may be able to be tested out for no credit. This pathway is for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in sociology.

The public health AA pathway is for students interested in earning Bachelor's degrees in public health or related fields. This program provides a broad-level understanding of the goals and challenges of public administration and the relationship of these to more specialized aspects of planning, organization, management, and analysis in the public sector at the national, state, and local levels.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first-time-in-college students. CGS 2100 may be able to be tested out for no credit. The computer engineering technology AS degree program prepares you for an entry-level position as a computer technician. The coursework focuses on the diagnosis and repair of hardware and software in micro, mini and mainframe computers. With minimal additional specialized training, you may become a field or in-house shop technician.
