Overview

The Department of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, Classical Languages (Ancient Greek, Latin, and Biblical Hebrew) and selected critical languages. Students may major in Chinese Studies, Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, French and Francophone Studies, German Studies, Italian Literary and Cultural Studies, Judaic Studies, and Spanish Studies. A student may double major in two of the above majors. Students will gain knowledge of the Literature, Culture, and applied Language skills that are required for teaching, business, diplomatic or governmental work, and research in graduate or undergraduate study of the culture and literature that is associated with these languages.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

The Department of Psychological Sciences recommends that its majors take a broad selection of Psychological Science courses and electives to obtain a well-rounded introduction to the science. The Department encourages students to participate in its research activities, including laboratory courses, research seminars, and independent study experiences.

The BSE-MSE Curriculum requires a minimum of 129 credits to satisfy graduation requirements. Thirty-one (31) credits in mathematics and basic sciences, fifty-five (55) credits in engineering, and nineteen to twenty-two (19-22) credits in general education courses are specified. Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Sciences (STEM)

An undergraduate degree in Allied Health Sciences prepares you for immediate employment in a variety of health fields including case management/patient care coordination, health education, medical billing and account management, health marketing and sales, laboratory research, health insurance administration. Your degree will also prepare you for admission to graduate and/or professional schools and programs that require a bachelor's degree (e.g. medical school, dental school, physician assistant, physical therapy, public health, health promotion sciences, etc.). You'll choose a standard plan (most flexible) or one of four concentration areas and tailor your plan of study to your specific goals and professional interests.

Your assigned academic advisor will work with you to develop a plan of study that includes university general education requirements and coursework covering a broad range of health and healthcare topics that also fulfill graduate health program admission requirements. Specific requirements will vary based on your intended concentration and career path. The undergraduate program of study is designed with sufficient breadth and depth to enable our graduates to work successfully in industry or government, or to continue studies in graduate school.

The electrical engineering curriculum provides a firm foundation in fundamentals, while also giving students exposure to current technologies for design and implementation. It strives for a balance between theory, laboratory and design experience. In the first two years of study, students are given a broad foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer programming, applied mechanics, communication skills and humanities. Introductory courses in computer science and electric circuit analysis are also taken in the sophomore year. In the final two years, students build upon their earlier course work, taking a set of required EE courses intended to provide the core knowledge expected of every electrical engineer.

A student in consultation with his or her advisor chooses a number of electrical engineering professional elective courses, and various elective courses in the humanities and social sciences. The professional elective courses taken give the student expertise in an area of specialization in electrical engineering, or allow him or her to explore topics of individual interest. Areas of specialization in electrical engineering include: biomedical engineering, electronic circuits and instrumentation, microelectronics, systems, and telecommunications. Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neurobiology (STEM)

This B.S. program in Physiology and Neurobiology is intended to provide students with a foundational understanding of body and brain functions at the molecular, cellular, and systemic levels by synthesizing current and emerging ideas from research and medical science. Course offerings span comparative and model system physiology, nervous system function and development, endocrinology, cardiorespiratory physiology, and associated diseases. The Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) curriculum is designed to give sound knowledge of basic principles in mathematics, physics, and chemistry; to provide education in the theory, principles, and practices of engineering; and to present the opportunity to obtain additional instruction and experience in one of the major engineering disciplines. Students gain hands-on experience in the laboratory courses that accompany classroom work, and develop design skills in course work beginning in the first two years.
