• Philosophically explain and discuss theories and concepts of the major thinkers of schools in Western philosophy.

The M.Ed. in Art Education is designed to provide opportunities for artistic and scholarly inquiry and specialized research for the practicing art educator. Emphasis is placed on each graduate student customizing a program of study from a wide array of courses that are significant to the contemporary field of art education. The program encourages professional development as artist / teacher / researchers in becoming more effective practitioners and leaders in the field of art education. 

The Master of Science in Marketing Intelligence and the embedded Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Interactive Marketing are designed to fill a growing need for graduates with the skills necessary to acquire, analyze and utilize marketing intelligence information in the digital age. The program is designed with an applied, experiential learning focus based on industry needs.

With digital marketing options evolving rapidly, companies need individuals who can create, implement and evaluate data-driven marketing strategies.

Foreign Languages majors in the Spanish Education Concentration are eligible to apply for certification to teach Spanish in Maryland upon graduation. In addition to the Core Curriculum requirements and the requirements specified by the Department of Secondary and Middle School Education, students must complete 30 units. Students must contact the Department of Secondary and Middle School Education about admission to the Teacher Education Program. Students are also required to complete the Oral Proficiency Interview and the Writing Proficiency Test. They are required to achieve a level of “Advanced Low" in the Oral Proficiency Interview. 

Students who decide not to complete all education requirements must select and complete a different concentration/track in the major in order to graduate.

• Students will demonstrate development of communication skills using American Sign Language.

• Students will demonstrate appropriate interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
• Students will demonstrate competency in essential skills required of a college graduate by using software as appropriate for writing, spreadsheets, statistical analyses, for calculations or for presentations. (ILTC)

The Psychology major requires 3-4 units in prerequisite coursework and 44 units in psychology (47-48 units total) with a grade equivalent of 2.00 in all courses. No “Pass” grades are accepted for the 44 units in psychology. All students must satisfy the relevant prerequisites for individual psychology courses taken.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Systems and Processes requires a minimum of 120 earned units, which must include successful completion of the university Core Curriculum requirements, the Business Systems and Processes requirements and electives.

Students are responsible for monitoring their own progress toward graduation. Students must consult with their assigned advisers each term to ensure that prerequisite courses are taken in proper sequence to meet the student’s target completion date for the degree. Prerequisites are monitored during registration. Please note that not all Business Systems and Processes courses are offered every term. Students need to create a plan in conjunction with their advisors based on the planned course offerings.

Students may additionally earn an industry certification, SAP Student Recognition Award, as part of completing selected courses in the program.

International students may benefit from the program's STEM designation, which supports an optional practical training (OPT) extension of two years.

Students majoring in Music Education are required to complete the courses listed under the requirements tab, the Music Education Professional Core Courses and the Core Curriculum. Students choose either the Instrumental Music Education Concentration or the Vocal-General Music Education Concentration. Students will also complete a criminal background check as required by the school system in which the internship is located prior to entry into the capstone internship.

• In the production of art and/or design work, students will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the materials and processes of their chosen discipline.
• In creating and/or evaluating art and design work, students will recognize and demonstrate understanding of perspectives of people from cultures and situations other than their own.
• Students will articulate, through writing, verbally and through the production of a body of work, their personal aesthetic and/or professional direction.

The Mass Communication major consists of three tracks: Advertising, Journalism, and Strategic Public Relations. Students must complete one of the three tracks. Many students complete two of the three tracks and some complete all three.

Students who complete the Mass Communication major will have many career options, especially in the broadly defined fields of print, broadcast and online journalism, advertising, and strategic public relations. Majors are expected to learn how the various fields in mass communication are structured and function.
