You may choose a concentration in global politics and governance, global political economy, global culture or area studies. Core courses encompass international and global events, organizations, structures and processes — as well as the global economy, global media and increasing worldwide cultural interconnectedness. During the senior year, you will choose either a capstone seminar in your concentration or a relevant internship in an international area. In consultation with an adviser, you can develop a more directed program of study — such as a focus on development in the Third World or on globalism.

You’ll take at least 6 credit hours of a foreign language at the intermediate level, enhancing your ability to communicate internationally. Our interdisciplinary degree integrates concepts and methods from computer science, graphic design and the social sciences. Drawing upon these concepts and methods, you will learn user-centered design approaches as you create information and communication technologies such as websites, mobile apps, computer games and software design.

Through courses on marketing principles, consumer behavior, marketing research and advertising and promotion, the program introduces concepts and tools employed by successful professionals. It also emphasizes team-oriented projects that enable you to apply various principles of marketing management to actual business problems.

Participate in governing of SUNY Oswego chapter of the American Marketing Association. You’ll discover new approaches in marketing — such as e-marketing, social marketing, the role of media in integrated marketing communications and branding — through classroom discussions, case simulations and class activities. Offered by the departments of mathematics and economics, the program's course requirements and electives divide equally between economic theory and mathematics, and include computer science coursework. Our program includes the availability of special topics such as comparative religion, sociobiology and a variety of courses that focus on specific cultural areas (China and North America, for example). You have many opportunities for field work, including archaeological digs in historically rich Central and Northern New York as well as in France and the Bahamas. Participate in internships and study-abroad programs; recent examples include internships with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office and studying in France, India, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Peru, Tanzania, Poland and Italy. Join the Anthropology Club, which sponsors guest lectures and social events, as well as trips to museums and meetings of national anthropological associations.

Join the Computer Science Association, which sponsors guest speakers, conducts programming contests, arranges tours of companies that hire graduates and provides opportunities for advanced students to tutor and mentor first-year students. Our program is accredited by the American Chemical Society and is ranked in the top three in the number of certified degrees award in New York. Graduates of SUNY Oswego’s chemistry programs have gone on to study at prestigious graduate schools, and have received national recognition as chemists, researchers and educators. Outstanding labs in the Shineman Center, professors who are knowledgeable yet student-focused, active student organizations and internships at home and overseas provide a first-class chemistry experience.

Join the student affiliate of the American Chemical Society, which offers free tutoring and other services, and has often been cited as one of the most outstanding in the country. Excel and you may qualify for the chemistry honors program, which emphasizes independent study and research, or even the national honor societies Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi. You can present your work at Sigma Xi and other conferences. A large network of internships and co-op opportunities are among the ingredients for future success.

Facilities and equipment in the Shineman Center include a scanning electron microscope, 300 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, scintillation counter, analytical chromatographs, preparative gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer and many computing facilities.

Our program investigates our complex culture from perspectives that include history, political institutions, literature and art. You will gain historical perspective, familiarity with the great plays of the world, and an opportunity to participate in all areas of the theatre. 

Our hands-on mainstage theatre season offers you the opportunity to perform, design or crew full productions alongside faculty and industry professionals, as well as the unique and student-created annual Honors Production.

Student societies, including the Blackfriars Student Theatre organization and the Mu Iota cast of national honor society Alpha Psi Omega, offer opportunities to engage with other theatre students. You will have the opportunity to assist faculty directors and designers, as well as to take advantage of the many internships, co-ops and international study opportunities available.
