Oswego’s software engineering program — the first in all of SUNY — provides a systems-oriented curriculum that encompasses software requirements, design, construction, testing, maintenance, configuration management, engineering management, engineering process, tools and quality assurance.

Centered primarily in the social and behavioral sciences, the program combines a liberal arts education, in-depth study in your area of interest and supervised fieldwork. We also offer an online degree completion program for those with appropriate transfer credit.

The optional internship gives you the opportunity to apply classroom learning in real-world settings, and enables you to make contact with working professionals — and possible employers. Join prestigious engineering societies — such as the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and others — to network with other students and professionals. Candidates will examine theoretical and practical applications of communication research within environments that require strategic communication, such as organizational and mediated contexts. Recent baccalaureate graduates and current professionals will have an opportunity to examine the creation, perception, interpretation, and implications of communicated messages.

You’ll find numerous performance opportunities in credit-bearing musical organizations and in private studio instruction open to all qualified students regardless of major. Develop comprehensive musicianship through a combination of two years of music theory, three semesters of music history, one year of piano proficiency and a minimum of two years of applied studio instruction and ensemble performance.

Develop your talent in private or group lessons; at Oswego, these are available on all instruments and voice, taught by talented faculty. Apply to join one of two large choirs, or select vocal ensemble, orchestra, wind ensemble or jazz bands. The recently renovated Tyler Hall, the music department’s home base, contains a large theatre, two sizable rehearsal/performance rooms, many practice rooms, a state-of-the-art digital piano lab, a fully equipped multi-station computer MIDI lab, a music learning center and a digital multi-track based recording studio.

Through courses on marketing principles, consumer behavior, marketing research and advertising and promotion, the program introduces concepts and tools employed by successful professionals. It also emphasizes team-oriented projects that enable you to apply various principles of marketing management to actual business problems.

Participate in governing of SUNY Oswego chapter of the American Marketing Association. You’ll discover new approaches in marketing — such as e-marketing, social marketing, the role of media in integrated marketing communications and branding — through classroom discussions, case simulations and class activities. Learn from hands-on opportunities available through internships and co-op programs.

Biochemists explore the molecular nature of cells, study the development of illnesses, search for new drugs, predict undeveloped/inherited health problems and help forensic experts identify criminals. Our undergraduate curriculum includes chemistry, mathematics, physics, genetics and biology. Join the student affiliate of the American Chemical Society (ACS), which offers free tutoring and other services — and has often been cited as one of the most outstanding in the country. Excel and you may qualify for the chemistry honors program, which emphasizes independent study and research — or even the national honor societies Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi.

SUNY Oswego’s Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Research Center — the research and teaching facility where you’ll take a number of your lab classes — conducts important work in cancer and anti-diabetic drug discovery, the effects of lead on the cardiovascular system, ecological and genetic studies and more. Updated and powerful labs in the Shineman Center will aid all your research pursuits.

The program prepares graduates to work with children in schools to provide comprehensive behavioral and mental health services, including diagnostic assessment, academic and behavioral interventions, consultation to promote both individual and school-wide learning, and school-based counseling. 

We have designed our curriculum to align with the National Association of School Psychologists' training standards, and have enjoyed consistent accreditation since the program's inception. With our accreditation, graduates are eligible to apply to become a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Consistent with these training standards, students will receive training from faculty who have extensive experience working in a wide range of educational settings, from K-12 public schools to private schools to diagnostic clinics. In addition, students will have the opportunity to engage with faculty from our school counseling and mental health counseling programs to strengthen your ability to support the needs of all learners.
