Excel and you could be inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society — and become eligible for the history honors program, in which you can work directly with a faculty member to complete a thesis and earn an honors degree.

Our public relations program incorporates public opinion research, persuasive writing, graphics, working with the media and ethical responsibility, while examining public relations strategies and techniques through case study.

Our faculty members provide practitioner and theorist perspectives, while the program teaches students how to create and implement strategic public relations programs and offer everyday counsel to management. We emphasize writing, critical thinking and interpersonal skills while strongly recommending internships.

You can join our active chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which coordinates networking events, speakers and hands-on projects to help Oswego students gain connections and experience. Take advantage of a wide selection of on-campus and community involvement and internship opportunities.

The Public Accounting MBA combines a comprehensive business curriculum with required accounting courses in tax, theory, audit and government accounting. The program prepares students for high-level careers in accounting and finance.

You'll learn about the creation and production of media, the interrelated nature of media industries and the skills necessary to write, produce and distribute media messages. Explore a variety of areas including audio and video production, broadcast journalism, copywriting and media management. Our updated curriculum includes a variety of offerings in integrated media design and social media.

Many hands-on opportunities in front of or behind the camera, in control rooms and on the radio — including with some of the best campus facilities anywhere — make Oswego's broadcasting program a launchpad for countless successful careers.

In addition to campus radio (WNYO) and TV organizations (WTOP), you can seek an internship or co-op opportunity and gain valuable experience, Oswego students have interned at major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, MTV, ESPN), regional radio (including on-campus National Public Radio affiliate WRVO) and television stations, state and federal agencies and not-for-profit civic and cultural groups. Our Hollywood POV program takes you to the West Coast media capital to learn about, and connect with alumni working in, major entertainment and news operations. You can also help organize the annual Dr. Lewis B. O'Donnell Media Summit, which brings prominent names in the industry to campus.

While the technical component encompasses computer programming, database and text management systems, telecommunications, expert systems and statistics, the human perspective includes assessing information needs and exploring the social effects of information systems.

You’ll gain experiences that develop both computational competence and the ability to link people with technology — as well as the skills needed to participate in a field that continually adapts to match emerging technologies with evolving information requirements. Our art department's creative spaces and opportunities, avenues for individual and group projects, professors with varied art backgrounds and several majors and minors offer many paths to fulfillment and future success.

By working with both studio and graphic arts, students are given opportunities to expand their artistic horizons, define and use current methodologies and firmly grasp the importance of their work in multiple aspects of modern society. Students and faculty boldly explore the tangible and the rhetorical dimensions of art.

Clubs including Arts Alive and Break Thru Design let you connect and collaborate with peers while developing additional portfolio pieces, while internships and co-op opportunities add to your professional qualifications.

We offer multiple studios specializing in ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting, photography and foundation design, plus woodshop and digital-imaging labs.

Our program provides a foundation in the principles of geology and its related sciences with four laboratories, a seismograph and field experiences. A newer track on environmental earth sciences integrates a set of cross-disciplinary environmental science experiences from biological sciences, chemistry, meteorology and physics.

Oswego is ideally located for field studies of Lake Ontario, carbonate and clastic sedimentary rocks of the Lower Paleozoic age, Precambrian rocks of the Adirondacks, Pleistocene glacial features and the pollution of rivers and ground waters. Field trips may include southeastern Pennsylvania, the Chesapeake Bay, Ithaca, Whitaker State Park, and the Catskill Mountains.

Join prestigious engineering societies — such as the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and others — to network with other students and professionals. SUNY Oswego’s bachelor of science degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET – the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

Biochemists explore the molecular nature of cells, study the development of illnesses, search for new drugs, predict undeveloped/inherited health problems and help forensic experts identify criminals. SUNY Oswego’s Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Research Center — the research and teaching facility where you’ll take a number of your lab classes — conducts important work in cancer and anti-diabetic drug discovery, the effects of lead on the cardiovascular system, ecological and genetic studies and more. Updated and powerful labs in the Shineman Center will aid all your research pursuits.

The solid coursework includes biological and forensic anthropology, archaeology, ethnology, anthropological and archaeological theory, globalization, research methods, language and culture. Our program includes the availability of special topics such as comparative religion, sociobiology and a variety of courses that focus on specific cultural areas (China and North America, for example). Opportunities for field work at home and abroad with remarkable professors make Oswego's anthropology program top-notch.

You have many opportunities for field work, including archaeological digs in historically rich Central and Northern New York as well as in France and the Bahamas. Participate in internships and study-abroad programs; recent examples include internships with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office and studying in France, India, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Peru, Tanzania, Poland and Italy.
