The graphic design and digital media program consists of courses in studio, thesis, history, theory and practice. Candidates choose to focus in a specific medium such as the web, interactive or print, or to focus on a specific production type such as promotional, informational or illustrative. Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

You can choose to study and investigate a number of specialization areas including cellular and molecular, organismal and systematic, genetic and developmental, or environmental and population biology. After introductory core courses, students and professors work together to design a program of additional courses to fit your professional career interests. The year long capstone experience places students in a position of developing software for real clients. The laboratory and instructional facilities support and encourage creativity and teamwork. Oswego’s software engineering program — the first in all of SUNY — provides a systems-oriented curriculum that encompasses software requirements, design, construction, testing, maintenance, configuration management, engineering management, engineering process, tools and quality assurance.

Join the Computer Science Association, which sponsors guest speakers, conducts programming contests, arranges tours of companies that hire graduates and provides opportunities for advanced students to tutor and mentor first-year students. Develop software for real clients during your year-long capstone experience. Pursue an internship or co-op opportunity in a company or institution, and gain software development experience in finance, defense, manufacturing, government or other fields.

The curriculum explores the diverse experiences, perspectives, culture, history and significant contributions of women. This interdisciplinary major is designed to develop a broad understanding of the study of gender and women, investigate women's contributions in all areas of academic scholarship, and explore the relationship between cultural definitions of feminine and masculine behaviors and the realities of women's and men's lives. Choose from core or concentration courses to design programs that fit your specific interests and career orientation.

Take advantage of opportunities for learning beyond the traditional classroom by applying for internships, independent studies and seminars under the mentoring of an academic adviser. The program collaborates closely with the Women’s Center, a student organization that puts classroom instruction into practice. Gain an in-depth and interdisciplinary experience, grounded in five core linguistics courses that examine the foundational properties of natural languages — plus eight additional courses that observe language from a variety of other perspectives.

You can creatively mix courses and interests for an exciting and useful major. Combine a double-major in linguistics with another field of your choosing. The curriculum helps develop problem-solving and writing abilities — two essential skills for today’s demanding job markets. Throughout the interaction design program students will focus on experimentation, prototyping, iteration, storytelling and problem solving, and continually develop their skills through discussions and critiques.

Our outstanding digital studios are equipped with industry-standard programs and technologies to support a wide range of projects in a hands-on studio environment. In addition to studios, our “maker-spaces” assist students in preparing portfolios and framing, digital photography, audio/video production, and sensor technology for interaction projects.

Clubs including Arts Alive and Break Thru Design let you connect and collaborate with peers to develop additional portfolio pieces, while internships and co-op opportunities add to your professional qualifications.

After graduation, students will be prepared to enter and lead in fields including user experience, user interface, extended reality, multimedia design, motion design, web design, product design, 3-D design and printing, and other emerging fields.

Our program is accredited by the American Chemical Society and is ranked in the top three in the number of certified degrees award in New York. Graduates of SUNY Oswego’s chemistry programs have gone on to study at prestigious graduate schools, and have received national recognition as chemists, researchers and educators. Outstanding labs in the Shineman Center, professors who are knowledgeable yet student-focused, active student organizations and internships at home and overseas provide a first-class chemistry experience.

Join the student affiliate of the American Chemical Society, which offers free tutoring and other services, and has often been cited as one of the most outstanding in the country. Excel and you may qualify for the chemistry honors program, which emphasizes independent study and research, or even the national honor societies Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi. You can present your work at Sigma Xi and other conferences. A large network of internships and co-op opportunities are among the ingredients for future success.

Facilities and equipment in the Shineman Center include a scanning electron microscope, 300 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, scintillation counter, analytical chromatographs, preparative gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer and many computing facilities.
