You'll learn about the creation and production of media, the interrelated nature of media industries and the skills necessary to write, produce and distribute media messages. Explore a variety of areas including audio and video production, broadcast journalism, copywriting and media management. Our updated curriculum includes a variety of offerings in integrated media design and social media.

Many hands-on opportunities in front of or behind the camera, in control rooms and on the radio — including with some of the best campus facilities anywhere — make Oswego's broadcasting program a launchpad for countless successful careers.

In addition to campus radio (WNYO) and TV organizations (WTOP), you can seek an internship or co-op opportunity and gain valuable experience, Oswego students have interned at major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, MTV, ESPN), regional radio (including on-campus National Public Radio affiliate WRVO) and television stations, state and federal agencies and not-for-profit civic and cultural groups. Our Hollywood POV program takes you to the West Coast media capital to learn about, and connect with alumni working in, major entertainment and news operations. You can also help organize the annual Dr. Lewis B. O'Donnell Media Summit, which brings prominent names in the industry to campus.

Faculty expertise ranges across all aspects of computing, including security, databases, concurrency, parallelism, distribution, networking, enterprise systems, simulation, cognitive science, user-interface design, artificial intelligence, embedded systems and robotics.

Join the Computer Science Association, which sponsors guest speakers, conducts programming contests, arranges tours of companies that hire graduates and provides opportunities for advanced students to tutor and mentor first-year students. This exciting interdisciplinary program will teach you to gather, write, edit, package and produce the news for print and digital platforms. You'll also explore the forces that shape television and radio news — and the demands of writing news in broadcast style.

All students are required to participate in an internship before they graduate and study in another field to broaden their breadth of knowledge. We offer a network of internships and co-ops with numerous large- and small-market media outlets. Our bachelor's in applied mathematics examines the practical applications of mathematics in science and operations research. Your degree prepares you for the growing importance of analyzing and applying statistics and data.

With the department’s approval, enter the honors program in mathematics, where you’ll have the opportunity to pursue advanced topics and work with faculty one-on-one. For an even greater challenge, work on an independent study. Add to your resume with internships and co-op opportunities.

Our program has achieved widespread recognition for the breadth of study offered. In addition to the management core, you’ll gain expertise in staffing, recruitment and placement — and in such crucial areas as organizational behavior, employment law, compensation, union-management relations, training and development.

This major continues to grow in importance as HR professionals are recognized as an integral part of the overall corporate governance team. Oswego's program aligns with Society for Human Resource Management guidelines to make graduates particularly current and marketable.

Oswego hosts a very active Society for Human Resource Management club that offers workshops to boost your professional preparation, invites speakers, provides networking opportunities and regularly excels in national case competitions. Apply what you’ve learned to real-world situations as you examine current HR problems during your capstone HRM course. Apply for a study abroad program in Europe, Australia or mainland China — or one of the internships or co-op opportunities available at the local, national and international levels.

The on-campus Human Resource Management Center offers research and publishing opportunities, visiting speakers, workshops and closer connections with faculty and alumni.

You will take specialized courses in risk management, lines of insurance and employee benefits while also gaining core strengths in such areas as accounting, finance, marketing and management.

Study risk management problems and solutions in depth during your capstone experience. You’ll study in the region (Central New York) that has the second-highest insurance industry employment east of the Mississippi. The teaching of this broad base of knowledge is supported by the years of practical, professional experience our faculty bring to the classroom. Coursework includes strong elements of the accounting, economics and quantitative fields, and will prepare you for positions in financial institutions such as commercial and investment banks, mutual funds, brokerages and insurance companies.

Join the Investment Club and take advantage of the opportunity to manage a shared portfolio, and put what you’re learning into practice.

Throughout the interaction design program students will focus on experimentation, prototyping, iteration, storytelling and problem solving, and continually develop their skills through discussions and critiques.

Our outstanding digital studios are equipped with industry-standard programs and technologies to support a wide range of projects in a hands-on studio environment. In addition to studios, our “maker-spaces” assist students in preparing portfolios and framing, digital photography, audio/video production, and sensor technology for interaction projects.

Clubs including Arts Alive and Break Thru Design let you connect and collaborate with peers to develop additional portfolio pieces, while internships and co-op opportunities add to your professional qualifications.

After graduation, students will be prepared to enter and lead in fields including user experience, user interface, extended reality, multimedia design, motion design, web design, product design, 3-D design and printing, and other emerging fields.
