The Bachelor of Science degree program in Artificial Intelligence is one of the first degrees of its kind in the country. Students of this program will build the foundational knowledge necessary to design computational systems that exhibit “human-like intelligence” such as the ability to interpret sensory input, learn from experience, understand human language, and support intelligent decision-making. Graduates will have the skill-set necessary to meet industry demand for workers able to contribute to research and development in Artificial Intelligence across all industry sectors. The program begins with introductory courses in programming, computer science, mathematics, and statistics that provide a firm technical foundation. The curriculum then introduces core artificial intelligence concepts and techniques including state-space search, game-playing, machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning with applications to various domains (e.g. computer vision, natural language processing and understanding).

The B.S. in Exercise Science & Wellness specifically focuses on areas such as human performance, exercise physiology, strength & conditioning, nutrition, biomechanics, sports management and inclusive fitness programing. The curriculum was designed to provide a strong foundation in scientific, physiological, and psychological concepts related to sports performance, wellness, fitness evaluation and exercise adherence, exercise prescription, inclusive fitness and health promotion. Our program positions students for careers in Commercial Fitness, with Professional Sports Teams, at Community Centers, in Non-Profit Organizations, in addition to Wellness Companies, Hotels & Cruise Ships, and the Entertainment Industry. The 36 to 63-credit Master’s of Business Administration (number of credits is based on your undergraduate coursework) provides the knowledge base and skills that enable professionals to become leaders in business by offering a comprehensive program which meets the needs of an ever-changing, global business environment. The program is offered on a part-time basis during the evenings and weekends with 15- and 7-week semesters, to accommodate the schedules of busy working professionals who are interested in advancing their careers. When you enroll in the program, you will join students representing every continent and possessing a variety of professional backgrounds, including those who work in corporate entities, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

You will gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of business through the required courses. The Master's of Science in Exercise Science offers a comprehensive educational experience including lectures and laboratories on theory and application of advanced exercise physiology concepts. Specific tracks of study serve to advantageously position graduates and career professionals in an ever-changing health care environment. The program is designed to enhance students' marketability, through combining exercise physiology with three well-established and popular areas of study: sports nutrition, athletic performance and fitness for people with disabilities.

Although there are three distinct areas of study, the program also offers academic flexibility with several elective courses. In addition, an active research laboratory allows students the opportunity to pursue their own data collection or get involved as a volunteer or graduate assistant.

The M.S. curriculum has an overall credit requirement of 36 credits. Our intention is to provide students with an education that is inspiring, satisfying and valuable to ensure our students are competitive across the current academic and career landscapes.

Students may choose from one of the following tracks:

Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition – Prepares students for advanced study in exercise physiology and for careers in corporate fitness, hospitals, rehabilitation, athletics, research and wellness programs. The track emphasizes the role of exercise in health and disease prevention, fitness testing and programming, physical activity intervention as well as hands-on, laboratory-based, clinically-based and research-based internship experiences.

Strength, Conditioning, and Sports Nutrition – Designed for individuals seeking to improve their knowledge and skills in the area of strength and conditioning of athletes. The program focuses on the science and practical application of current knowledge in the field. Students have the opportunity to earn national certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Fitness for People with Disabilities – Offers students a unique opportunity to combine advance courses in exercise science, exercise prescription, and applied behavior analysis to design fitness and sports programs for individuals with cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. Students develop specialized competencies in exercise testing, program design, and evaluation. This innovate approach leads to a variety of career options in the health-fitness, education and clinical fields.

Industrial pharmacists are responsible for quality control, using the latest technologies to research drug compounds, conduct trials to test medications for safety, and develop new drugs that save lives.

The Master of Science program in Pharmaceutics with Specialization in Industrial Pharmacy prepares students for careers in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and for entry into Ph.D. programs in pharmaceutical sciences and other related fields.

M.F.A. in Creative Writing prepares students to both be professional writers in the world and to be visionary literary citizens. Situated in the heart of Brooklyn, LIU’s MFA in Creative Writing is an innovative creative writing program centered on world literature, multi-genre education, and publishing. Our applied MFA prepares students for careers in creative writing, academia, translation, and publishing. During their two-year residential program, students have the opportunity to study poetry, fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, and translation, and thus receive a robust multi-genre education.

In our MFA’s publishing courses, students study directly with professionals at the heart of the publishing industry. During the course of their study, students learn about commercial, independent, and academic publishing with frequent guest literary agents, editors, and leaders from seminal national and international literary arts organizations. We also focus on the performative aspects of the writing industry including audiobooks, public performances and speaking, and adaptations. Students learn about the intersection between book publishing and popular and new media.  The School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preparing new nurses through two tracks:

• Full-time day track
• Accelerated 2nd-degree track—a 16-month program for students who already hold a baccalaureate degree in another field. This track offers admission in the Summer, Spring, and Fall.

The B.S. in Biology is designed to prepare students for graduate or professional studies as well as for entering the job market. Students can elect to specialize in molecular biology. Students who elect to specialize in this concentration must complete all of the requirements for the B.S. in Biology. They also are required to take specific biology courses as part of their advanced biology electives.
