Students pursuing the Marketing Emphasis have the opportunity to complement their degree with a minor or double-major in other areas of business which include finance, accounting, management, international business, graphic design, English, or communication.

As a student in the University of Findlay's Theatre Program, you will earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre. We also have two emphasis options for you to pick from.

With a degree in public relations from the University of Findlay you will be prepared work in corporations, PR agencies, nonprofit organizations or the government. Many are drawn to this field because there are many career opportunities and a variety of work. The constant evolution of technology and methods used to communicate keeps careers in this field exciting as well.

If you are interested in working in areas such as the media, community relations, marketing, event planning, management or health communication, a degree in public relations is right for you. Through our program, you will be equipped with a number of skills that employers are looking for such as:

Throughout coursework, job shadowing, visiting speakers and internships you will explore a variety of areas to learn what interests you.

Findlay's graphic design major provides a curriculum focused on the development of visual communication skills through coursework in digital imaging, typography, interactive media, and commercial design. Students also gain experience in marketing and communications.

Program Highlights

• Graphic design majors have a variety of opportunities to participate in internships with local businesses or organizations and with offices on campus. Students also participate in service learning projects in the classroom to design publications for community partners.
• Students in the graphic design major enjoy access to the Mazza Museum, the most diverse collection of original artwork by children's book illustrators in the world. Students attend annual Mazza conferences, interact with nationally recognized award-winning illustrators, complete internships with the museum, and volunteer with monthly educational events.
• Senior graphic design majors participate in capstone coursework that includes career preparation, a senior exhibition, and professionally-oriented individualized work with local clients. Students also have opportunities to participate in juried exhibitions, including the annual University of Findlay Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition at the Lea Gallery.

Findlay's children's book illustration major provides a curriculum focused on skills specific to the field of illustration such as drawing, painting, printmaking, design and typography while also integrating coursework in children's literature.  Students work closely with art faculty and the Mazza Museum staff to gain knowledge of the publishing industry and develop their skills in sequential storytelling.

Program Highlights

• Students in the children's book illustration major enjoy access to the Mazza Museum, the most diverse collection of original artwork by children's book illustrators in the world. Students attend annual Mazza conferences, interact with nationally recognized award-winning illustrators, complete internships with the museum, and volunteer with monthly educational events.
• The Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery provides opportunities for art management students to participate in the organization, preparation, and installation of shows. The Lea Gallery presents eight to ten exhibitions throughout the year, including works by students, faculty, and regional and national artists.  Students engage with exhibiting artists through gallery talks, classroom demonstrations, and public presentations.
• Children's book illustration majors have the opportunity to visit nationally-recognized museums and galleries through study trips abroad, annual art program trips to New York City and Chicago, and class trips to museums such as the Toledo Museum of Art and the Detroit Institute of Art.

University of Findlay's Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences provides advanced training for nuclear medicine technologists seeking to become multi-modality technologists, radiology directors, administrators, researchers, and educators.

The Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences Program was designed as a way for nuclear medicine technologists to elevate their training and certifications in just two years.

The program features further training in the fields of:

• Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
• Computed Tomography (CT)  
• Magnetic Resonance (MR)

The goal of the Japanese program at the University of Findlay is to help you develop communication skills that will enable you to pursue a career in virtually any industry with Japanese as a second language. Findlay offers a bachelor's degree in Japanese, a bachelor's degree in multi-age Japanese (grades K-12) with a teaching license.

Experiential Learning
Our instruction strongly emphasizes the functional and practical use of the language as well as education about the Japanese culture. You will be immersed in the language with lessons both inside and outside of the classrooms.  

You will practice your Japanese language skills:

• In class
• On-campus activities with Japanese students
• Activities with the Findlay area Japanese community members
• Study abroad and internship programs in Japan (short visits or up to a year)

There are approximately 350 Japanese speakers in the Findlay area, and you will do various things with them. We also have strong ties with Japan. We are affiliated with some large educational institutions, several universities, companies, and language schools in Japan.   

Every semester, you will find some of our students studying and/or working in Japan. Some of our graduates work in Japan as well as in Japanese companies located in the US. Some of our graduates became teachers of Japanese in the US and teachers of English in Japan.

While technology evolves at a rapid pace, the journalism and digital media fields have never been more exciting! It's more important now than ever to be able to communicate quickly and effectively on multiple media platforms. As a journalism/digital media major, you will gain a well-rounded skill set that will allow you to work in a variety of settings.

The journalism/digital media program at the University of Findlay is designed to prepare students to become successful reporters, writers, content developers, storytellers and overall strong communicators. With a strong focus on experiential learning, our program will provide you with a variety skills and experiences in

As a journalism/digital media major, you will be able to explore career opportunities in journalism, digital media, public relations, organizational communication, marketing or the rapidly growing field of health communication. Whether you develop content for newspapers, magazines, television, radio, websites or social media, it all starts with core skills that you will gain in our program. Some examples of these skills are:

Few majors provide you with more highly marketable skills for a variety of careers than the English major. The creative and critical thinking skills that you learn as an English major are highly valued in today's fast-paced and competitive market.
The English program provides a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in many diverse areas of education, public relations, communications, law, and marketing.  As an English major, you will develop skills to become a critical reader, writer, and thinker through the study of diverse literary genres, writing strategies, and research skills.

The teaching emphasis exposes students to the best teaching practices in the field and helps them to maintain an awareness of changing teaching pedagogies while developing their abilities as critical readers, writers, and thinkers.
